Before joining his brother Kevin at Hegarty Advisors, Brian had a fulfilling 30 year career in the financial markets. As an Equity Sales Trader and Trader Brian provided coverage and advice for dozens of the largest financial institutions in the world. Brian started his career in Public Accounting before transitioning to institutional finance monitoring risk for trading desks across asset classes at Bankers Trust Company. In this role, Brian offered advice and executed transactions across Europe and Asia. When BZW was purchased by Credit Suisse First Boston in 1996, Brian transitioned to focus on U.S. Markets and institutions. Over the course of his approximately 20 years at Credit Suisse Brian built expertise in consulting clients on small and mid cap equities. Under Brian’s leadership Credit Suisse built an industry leading Small Cap franchise. Working closely with the Capital Markets team, Brian was instrumental in bringing many of the leading growth companies of the past few decades to public markets. Over the course of his career Brian has experienced first hand all sorts of market environments, from long bull runs to market tumult. Brian provided guidance to clients during the dotcom bubble, the Great Financial Crisis, the Pandemic and other historic market events. These events have given Brian a great appreciation for positioning according to your appropriate risk levels and the appreciation of a long term perspective of markets.
Prior to his career in finance, Brian graduated Loyola University in Baltimore Maryland with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. While at Loyola Brian ran Cross Country competing against the nations top runners and experimented with a few seasons on the Rugby team.
